James reminds us to “count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:2-4
And one of the more often quoted passages in Jeremiah reminds us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen.” Jeremiah 23:11-12
There will be countless lessons for us to teach our boys as a result of the journey of Carter’s black eye. One of the lessons will be the power of community and how God uses others to encourage us in trying times and intercede on our behalf.
